How to play

Simple path: make an account → download the game → open it → whisper Ai.

Rates 5 / 5 / 3 · English · Alpha · full Pre-RE world (~13.2-era open). New characters still get a light Izlude onboarding tutorial — the world itself is not locked to Episode 1. If you’re new, use the Full client — that’s the one we support best.

3 steps

  1. Register on this website (pick a password you won’t lose).
  2. Download the Full client below, unzip it somewhere easy (like C:\Games\GrAiRiO).
  3. Play — open OpenSetup once (choose WINDOWED) → then GrAiRiO.exe → pick service GrAiRiO → log in → whisper Ai.

Full game client

One big zip (~6 GB). Unzip and play. Music included. Best choice for new players — this is what we test on when you need help.

  1. Download the zip.
  2. Unzip the whole folder (don’t run the game from inside the zip).
  3. Open OpenSetup.exe → WINDOWED → Apply.
  4. Open GrAiRiO.exe (or PLAY.bat).

Don’t use random other Ragnarok launchers or “official” patchers for this server.

UPDATES

Day patch (small update zip)

After you already have the game, we sometimes ship a small update zip (icons, names, little fixes). You do not need to re-download the whole client.

How to apply

  1. Close the game completely.
  2. Download latest-day-patch.zip.
  3. Open the zip. Copy the files into your game folder (the same place as GrAiRiO.exe). Overwrite when Windows asks.
  4. Start the game again with GrAiRiO.exe.

Easier button (if you have it): double-click Update GrAiRiO.exe in that same folder — it pulls the new files for you.

Right now the day patch includes things like AI Companion Token art and name fixes.

Only if the Full client isn’t a good fit. Support on these is more limited.

Lite — if you already have Ragnarok (kRO)

Smaller zip. You already own a full clean Ragnarok folder; this drops GrAiRiO on top.

  1. Have your Ragnarok folder ready.
  2. Run the installer or open the package’s files folder and copy everything into your Ragnarok folder (overwrite).
  3. OpenSetup → WINDOWED → GrAiRiO.exe.
  4. Also apply the day-patch zip if we have one out.

Very Lite — full game, no music folder

Same idea as Full, but smaller (no BGM). Game is silent until you add music later if you want.

  1. Download → unzip the whole folder.
  2. OpenSetup → WINDOWED → GrAiRiO.exe.

Which one do I pick?

  • I’m new → Full client.
  • I already have Ragnarok installed → Lite is fine (or still use Full if you want easy support).
  • I want a smaller download / no music → Very Lite.
  • Game already works, I just need today’s small update → Day-patch zip only.

After you’re in

  1. Pick service GrAiRiO and log in with the same account as the website.
  2. Make a character and enter the world.
  3. Whisper Ai for quests, help, barter, and “what now?”
  4. Meet the AI companions when they’re around (firsts plus the new 2nds — Ash, Ward, Lark, Step, Glyph, Hex, Brew, Flint) — party up, whisper for buffs or help, poke the weird and tell us what breaks.
  5. Whisper pop-ups: friends (and companions) can spam the 1:1 window. Press Ctrl+H → chat options → set whisper / 1:1 so messages don’t force a pop-out mid-fight. You’ll still see them in the chat log.

AI companions (Alpha)

  • Roster (firsts): Sister Lumen (priest) · Brother Bastion (tank) · Ranger Vale (Hunter) · Scholar Ember (mage) · Shadow Kite (thief).
  • Roster (2nds, Alpha): Sister Ash (Monk) · Ward (Crusader) · Minstrel Lark (Bard) · Step (Dancer) · Glyph (Sage) · Hex (Rogue) · Brew (Alchemist) · Smith Flint (Blacksmith). They arrive second after a door. Portals may ignore them. They do not chatter at each other. No third jobs.
  • They live in the fields — you may pass them, or get a hello later (not five whispers at once).
  • Player-led parties: you invite them; they accept humans and assist once partyed. They don’t spam invites or lead/kick.
  • Whisper a name when online: follow me / summon, dismiss / go farm, buff.
  • Modes / styles (expanding): tanky · healer · buffer · hybrid · dps; tank pull, support, MVP hunt as they land — see Discord Alpha notes.
  • Social: friend me · trade me. Cards they loot in party are handed over fairly (trade window first).
  • Guild: they reject random invites. Whisper accept guild, then send the invite within ~90s (or invite while they’re following you).
  • Town hops (companions only): go prontera / payon / geffen / morocc / izlude — or storage. They also run their own shop-strip sell trips (not free player loot).
  • Say their name in public chat — they might howdy back (canned, rare). Jump in if they’re fighting for a thank-you package.
  • Still polishing. Report weirdness on the Discord Alpha test board.

Help & support

  • We support the Full client the most. If something’s broken, try that first.
  • Lite / Very Lite / custom folders can still play — we’ll try to help, but results vary.
  • When you ask for help, say which download you used (Full / Lite / Very Lite).

Quick fixes

  • Black screen or freeze at server list — OpenSetup → windowed mode.
  • Instant disconnect / “can’t connect” — usually the wrong client folder. Use the Full client from this page, clean unzip, try again.
  • Missing file errors — re-download and unzip clean; don’t mix files from other servers.
  • Weird red chat about settings — fully quit, delete (if present) savedata\ChatWndInfo_U.lua and UserKeys.lua, start again.
  • Antivirus ate files — restore the folder / exclude it, re-unzip.
  • No music on Very Lite — normal; that package skips the music folder.
